Step By Step

Hello reader, I hope you’re having a great so far! My name is Chris and I am the Communications and digital Marketing Intern in Santo Domingo. I have been here just under a month now and have gained enough knowledge to give you a proper overview of what to expect.

When you first arrive you will have two days to get situated and begin the process of adapting to your new surroundings.  For some, you will be tempted to just stay inside and relax after the flight but I urge you to at least go out for power walk. This will allow your body time to adjust to the sun as well as giving you the chance to familiarize yourself with your neighborhood. After your initial few days you will be afforded the chance to meet the staff and then hit the ground running.

The current setup at work is comfortable and has multiple work stations set up in the upstairs area and ample space on the lower level.  You are able to make use of both areas but ensure you bring your own laptop as a backup or if you would like to do your work downstairs.  You are able to change where you work as long as you are able to get everything done.

Finally, there is a community of interns already established in Santo Domingo who are very welcoming and extremely friendly.  They will be able to help you find things like the best places’ to go to eat or to hangout out.  For the most part, depending on your current experience with Spanish they will be able to better help you understand the ins and outs of this beautiful historic city.

All in all I firmly believe that you will thoroughly enjoy your experience down here in the Dominican Republic. The only thing that remains is for you to take the plunge and book your ticket to start your adventure!
